It explains why they are encouraging us to use the internet.

So they can exploit the security hole in Safari...

Are you saying Mac users are (potential) terrorists?

:-p

Or is it just me?

Though I'm no computer whizz, but I'm not so sure it is as feasible as is being made out to crack any form of encryption with a pen drive. Possibly something to do with these much vaunted "back-doors"

Also I'm sure that these devices will only be used with a warrant or after an arrest has been made.

I think it is the "cost of getting set up with," part is important rather then just the console itself. Those highly vaunted 1080p TVs aren't cheap.

I could easily buy a good* car for less money that getting "set up" with a PS3

*"A good car is one that goes" as my oupa would say

The obvious danger in this of course is that it makes it difficult to get down to some hard core gaming if family and co are always on wii sports (or whatever) :-)

But it is a nice article, and a good thing about the Wii is that it has stopped my non-gaming friends and family misunderstanding my hobby. Which is of course *a good thing*

For a number of reasons.

AFAIK Curry's isn't a leading retailer of video and computer games. Supermarkets, specialist stores and online retailers are probably much bigger. So I think this is a bit of an empty, if interesting, gesture.

I liked this bit from the article though "The move comes after Dr Tanya Byron’s Review* into the industry found that parents can find the current dual PEGI/BBFC ratings confusing." So presumably Curry's looked at that part of ...

True. But the association is being created (IMO at least).

from article:

"The release on both the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 consoles comes only weeks after Tanya Byron, the television psychologist, recommended that video games carry cinema-style classifications to stop children accessing graphic images."

;-)

I sympathise with what you say and broadly agree with what you are saying.

That aside, I also see why lots of people are doing. It is rather annoying to frequently see a favoured hobby continually misrepresented in the popular media.

Incidentally, Amazon only show 7 4 and 5 star reviews. Looks like it was all for nowt in the end.

EDIT: It is tangentally related because that would have a much more positive effect on the gaming community than trash ...

Perhaps, but wiki is only a few keystrokes away.

Isn't this democratisation of knowledge dandy :-)

Though considering his tenuous position on this matter, perhaps we should be happy he managed to log in :-)

These normative statements everyone makes are getting rather tiring.

Judging from the apparent views of many console gamers, they don't really get pc gaming, or PCs for that matter. I'm sure that if I was on the other side of the aisle the opposite would be true too.

Needless to say, the platforms are different and excel at different things. I can saw with no small degree of certainty that my PC, which cost around the same as a PS3 (much less in fact if you facto...

It is painfully obvious you are speaking from your posterior.

1/ Configuring is fun!

Though if you don't find it fun you really don't need to spend much time doing it.

2/ If removing viruses warrants its own point then it is the user's fault for exposing themselve without protection.

3/ Installing games isn't that bad is it? You only really need to do it once, and it makes the gaming experience overall.

4/ What's ther...

Though there are PC gamers who aren't technically competent but like PC Gaming.

I built mine though.
